MAYERHOFER & KLINKOSCH Silver CAFETIER 800/1000e, conical shape, standing on a stand, decorated with foliage and fantastic animals, the body chased with the monogram "OM" in an oval cartouche, the handle imitating ivory. Austro-Hungarian work. Goldsmith Mayerhofer & Klinkosch (active from 1831 to 1869). Head of Diana hallmark (Minerva hallmark) - 19th CENTURY ERA Height Height : 17.5 cm. Gross weight: 424.3 g. Note: Jacob Carl Klinkosch (1822-1888) was the goldsmith to Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, for whom he carried out numerous commissions. He also worked for the royal family, and is probably one of the finest Austrian silversmiths of the second half of the 19th century. Provenance: Jacqueline Mousset, daughter of composer Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880), then by descent.
