BAVIERA Henri (born 1934) - Lot 62
BAVIERA Henri (born 1934) Holody, 2022. Mixed media on paper pasted on canvas. Signed and dated (20)22 lower right. Sheet: 76 x 56.5 cm; canvas: 100 x 70 cm Henri Baviera is a painter and engraver from Nice whose artistic career is characterized by a gradual evolution from figuration to lyrical abstraction. After an apprenticeship at the École municipale Trachel in Nice and initial figurative works, in the 1960s he moved into a "mineral" and then schematic phase, exploring the origins of living forms. At the same time, he developed an important engraving activity, inventing a "polychromy-relief" process in 1965, combining color, relief and linearity. Today, settled in Lorgues, in the Var region of France, he pursues a work committed to a profound synthesis of nature, form and abstraction.
