MACLET Elisée (1881-1962) - Lot 74
MACLET Elisée (1881-1962) Rue Norvins from Place du Tertre, Montmartre, Paris. Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. 46.5 x 55 cm Frame: 64 x 73 cm Élisée Maclet was a French painter from Picardy, known for his landscapes and views of Montmartre, which he immortalized before and after the arrival of the great urban upheavals. Self-taught, he developed a bright, naïve style, in which bold colors and spontaneous brushstrokes convey his poetic attachment to Parisian life. His work, a cross between post-impressionism and folk art, celebrates the simple beauty of the streets and villages of France with sincerity and freshness.
