FLANET Georges (born 1937) Collioures, November 1996. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right, titled on back. 17 x 35 cm Georges Flanet, a native of Yvelines, is a self-taught painter who has lived in the Var since 1989, and formerly in Saint Tropez. His painting, strongly influenced by neo-impressionism, is characterized by the assertive use of pure pigments, a keen sense of perspective and an approach inspired by pointillism. Flanet's favorite themes are Mediterranean landscapes (pines, coastline, villages), which he treats with a vibrant palette and intense light, lending his works a lively, poetic atmosphere.
