MALARMEY Jean-Claude (1932-1992) - Lot 200
MALARMEY Jean-Claude (1932-1992)
Polychrome enameled earthenware lot comprising a plate with stylized decoration (diam: 24.5 cm), a plate with peacock decoration (diam: 25 cm), a flower holder with floral decoration (height: 11.5 cm) and a dish with stylized decoration (diam: 12.5 cm). Each piece signed on the underside.
Note: Trained at the École des Beaux Arts de Reims before moving to Vallauris in 1954, Jean-Claude Malarmey joined Jean Rivier's workshops and helped found the "Vieux Moulin" studio. In 1957, he opened his own studio, preferring wood-fired kilns for his utilitarian and decorative pieces, recognizable by their muted glazes - beige, russet, brown, green or light blue. His work gradually evolved from a very "primitive" style to refined glazes reminiscent of oriental ceramics.
