Note: Initially trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, Robert Picault became a major artist in the pottery revival in Vallauris after 1945. He co-founded the Atelier Callis workshop with Roger Capron and Jean Derval, then set up his own studio to develop a recognizable style: utilitarian and artistic pieces decorated with geometric motifs in green, brown or black metallic glazes. His work embodies the alliance of Provencal ceramic tradition and graphic modernity.
