Plate: 25.8 x 34.8 cm
Benozzo Gozzoli was a pupil of Fra Angelico. He is known for his refined frescoes with a high narrative quality. Active mainly in Tuscany, he combined Florentine influences with a taste for ornamental detail, notably in the cycle of the Magi in the Medici chapel in Florence. His work illustrates the evolution of 15th-century religious painting towards more lively, naturalistic compositions.
Carlo Lasinio's later work as an engraver followed in the tradition of the Quattrocento masters. He reproduced and disseminated the works of Italian Renaissance painters and sculptors. With his precise, faithful engravings, he contributed to the rediscovery and dissemination of classical models, bringing his art into dialogue with the legacy of the great Florentine and Venetian masters.
