BONO Primitive (1880-1955) - Lot 67
BONO Primitive (1880-1955) Landscape with lighted house; The red sail. Two oils on panel, one framed. Each signed lower left. (frame damaged) 16.3 x 23.9 cm (frame: 21.5 x 29 cm) Born in Brescia, Primitif Bono made a name for himself in Algeria and along the Mediterranean coast. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français in the 1920s, he distinguished himself with orientalist scenes, seascapes and views of daily life. His style, at the crossroads of Art Deco and Orientalism, is characterized by a warm palette and lively compositions. Bono has devoted a significant part of his career to immortalizing the souks of Algiers, the alleyways of the Casbah and the shores of the Mediterranean.
