GAUDEZ Adrien Etienne (1845-1902) - Lot 90
GAUDEZ Adrien Etienne (1845-1902)
Pro patria.
Bronze proof. Signed and titled on cartouche.
Height : 60 cm
Trained by François Jouffroy at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Adrien Étienne Gaudez made a name for himself in bronze, creating both genre figures and patriotic monuments, including a memorial to French prisoners of the 1870 war in Magdeburg. His style, originally rather classical, evolved towards the end of his career towards more fluid, sinuous forms, close to Art Nouveau. His major works include monumental statues such as the Jean Rodolphe Perronet monument and the monument to Antoine Augustin Parmentier.
