DALI Salvador (1904-1989) - Lot 37
DALI Salvador (1904-1989) Babaouo. Center Culturel de Paris, 1978. In 4° sheets in publisher's slipcase. Reissue of Dali's 1932 book, illustrated with seven woodcuts, a diamond-engraved copperplate in color and a collage-gouache for the cover. Limited edition of 385 copies and a few Artist's copies. This is artist's copy no. 64. (gilt cover showing fold marks and slight wear to corners). Reference "Dali et les livres" page 184. Note: Written in 1932, Babaouo occupies a special place in Salvador Dalí's work. Conceived as a surrealist film script, this previously unpublished screen text testifies to the artist's interest in cinema, a few years after his collaboration with Luis Buñuel on Un Chien andalou and L'Âge d'or. This 1978 edition, enriched with original engravings, is one of Dalí's most remarkable achievements in the field of artist's books.
