FLOUTIER Louis (1882-1936) - Lot 70
FLOUTIER Louis (1882-1936) Behecoetchea farm in Ibarron. Oil on panel. Signed lower left. 39 x 55 cm (Frame: 54.5 x 71 cm) We warmly thank Mrs. Mary-Anne Prunet for confirming the authenticity of this work, which will be included in the artist's catalog raisonné at number 1576. A certificate of authenticity will be provided to the purchaser. Note: An important figure in Basque artistic life in the early 20th century, Louis Floutier devoted an essential part of his work to the region's landscapes and villages. A friend of Maurice Ravel and close to the cultural circles of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, he helped make the Basque country one of the most active artistic centers on the Atlantic coast. Located in Ibarron, a historic district of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, this composition bears witness to his attachment to a region of which he was one of the most faithful interpreters.
