Provenance: Galeria de Arte Misrachi, Mexico.
Note: Produced in 1985, Regardera rococo belongs to Rafael Cauduro's seminal years, during which the artist experimented with new relationships between painting, volume and space. Rejecting the traditional limits of the painting, he incorporated relief elements into his compositions, disrupting the viewer's perception and heralding the vast illusionist devices for which he would become internationally renowned.
Trained outside art academies and deeply influenced by architecture, Cauduro was already developing an original reflection on notions of memory, representation and reality. Works from this period, which are rarer on the market than his later productions, bear witness to the emergence of a plastic language that would lead, a few years later, to his famous monumental interventions in Mexican public institutions.
