CHAMBOST Pol (1906-1983) - Lot 138
CHAMBOST Pol (1906-1983) Egg. Ceramic proof with cracked blue enamel. Signed and dated below. (scratches from use) Height: 14.3 cm Note: Trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, Pol Chambost is one of France's leading 20th-century ceramists, alongside Georges Jouve, Roger Capron and Jean Derval. Exhibited at the major post-war Salons des Arts Décoratifs, he developed a body of work characterized by a remarkable balance between sculptural research and mastery of enamels. His ovoid shapes, particularly appreciated by collectors, testify to his desire to go beyond the utilitarian to turn ceramics into a true objet d'art. Today, his creations can be found at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Centre Pompidou and the Musée national de Céramique de Sèvres.
