Note: A major figure in French animal sculpture, Ary Bitter enjoyed considerable official recognition throughout his career, winning a gold medal at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. A regular exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français, he developed a repertoire inspired by the animal world, with several works joining the collections of the Musée des Années Trente in Boulogne-Billancourt. Representations of polar bears are among the emblematic subjects of this Art Deco animal sculpture, characterized by the pursuit of an elegant synthesis of forms. Published by Susse Frères, this set bears witness to the quality of distribution that the artist's work enjoyed.
