Note: A major figure in concrete art and European geometric abstraction, Gottfried Honegger (1917-2016) devoted over fifty years of creative activity to the exploration of elementary forms and their relationship to space. Co-founder of the Espace de l'Art Concret in Mouans-Sartoux, he is currently represented in the collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York and Kunsthaus Zürich. Created after the monumental sculpture installed in front of the Grenoble museum to mark the bicentenary of the French Revolution, Monoforme is one of the most emblematic expressions of his plastic language, based on geometric rigor, modularity and the search for a universal vocabulary.
