BREUER Marcel (1902-1981) - Publisher GAVINA
Suite of six CESCA B32 chromed tubular metal chairs, seat and back caned. Gavina publisher's label on some. Two chairs with slightly larger dimensions.
(Legs slightly pitted, caning worn on some).
78 x 47 x 59 cm (Two very slightly larger)
Note: A major Bauhaus figure, Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) revolutionized modern furniture with his use of tubular metal, inspired by bicycle frames. Created in 1928 and later named Cesca in honor of his daughter Francesca, the B32 chair is one of the first successful applications of the cantilever seat, without back legs. Now part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this model is considered an essential reference in the history of 20th-century design. Copies produced by Gavina occupy a special place in the post-war distribution of European modernist furniture.
