POULET Raymond (b. 1934) for Manufacture Jean Laurent in AUB - Lot 200
POULET Raymond (b. 1934) for Manufacture Jean Laurent in AUBUSSON. Camel market. Polychrome tapestry. Bolduc on reverse. Copy justified EX//A and dated 29 09 1980. (slight damp stains). 132 x 196 cm Note: Produced by the Manufacture Jean Laurent in Aubusson, this tapestry belongs to the tradition of the great workshops that contributed to the revival of French tapestry in the 20th century. Holder of the Aubusson label of origin and heir to a know-how inscribed on UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list, the Creuse town collaborated with numerous contemporary painters and cartonniers. Raymond Poulet developed a figurative universe inspired by travel and oriental scenes, themes which found in Aubusson tapestry a medium particularly suited to the richness of color and detail.
