[ASIA] CHINA, early 19th century - Lot 6
[ASIA] CHINA, early 19th century Porcelain bottle vase, mounted on a short foot, with a globular body topped by a long neck that flares at the opening, covered in an oxblood glaze. Drilled for electrical wiring. With a matching wooden base. Height: 40 cm Note: Oxblood-glazed porcelain is among the most iconic examples of Chinese ceramics. Developed during the Qing Dynasty based on the famous models of the Kangxi and Yongzheng periods, this monochrome glaze owes its deep carmine-red hues to the use of copper oxides, the firing of which remains particularly difficult to master. Sought after for the richness of their textural and color effects, oxblood vases hold an important place in collections of Chinese ceramics and attest to the high technical level achieved by the Chinese imperial kilns.
