[ASIA] CHINA, 19th century - Lot 20
[ASIA] CHINA, 19th century Square-sectioned porcelain vase, decorated with a painted design in black-family glazes depicting Taoist Immortals on their mounts amidst celestial clouds. Converted into a lamp. Height: 38 cm (without the socket). Note: Black-glazed porcelain is among the most prized Chinese ceramic productions of the late Qing Dynasty. The decoration depicts Taoist Immortals moving among the celestial clouds, a major theme in Chinese iconography associated with longevity, wisdom, and immortality. Highly sought after by collectors, Taoist-themed porcelain occupies an important place in 19th-century Chinese decorative arts.
