MALFROY-SAVIGNY Henry (1895–1944) - Lot 73
MALFROY-SAVIGNY Henry (1895–1944) Sheep and Shepherd. Oil on canvas. Signed “Savigny” lower left. (minor restorations) 54 x 65 cm (frame: 76 x 88.5 cm) Note: Henry Malfroy-Savigny (1895–1944) trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon before pursuing his career in Paris. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français, he regularly exhibited at major art events between the two world wars, where his landscapes and animal scenes were well received. His work, deeply rooted in the rural world, follows the tradition of early 20th-century French naturalist painting. Depictions of herds are among the most sought-after subjects in his body of work.
