Note: Ernest Albert Waterlow (1850–1919) was one of the leading British landscape painters of the Victorian era. A member of the Royal Watercolor Society and later elected to the Royal Academy in 1890, he gained significant renown for his rural scenes and landscapes imbued with subtle atmospheric effects. The year following his election to the Royal Academy, this work was exhibited there in 1891, reflecting the institutional recognition the artist enjoyed at the time. The presence of a former label from the John A. Cooling Gallery, located on New Bond Street in London, further enhances the historical and collector’s interest in this painting.
