BUNDY Edgar (1862–1922) - Lot 77
BUNDY Edgar (1862–1922) Three Gentlemen. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. (damaged glass) 56 x 71.5 cm (frame: 75 x 90.5 cm) Note: Edgar Bundy (1862–1922) was a British painter who specialized in historical scenes and depictions of 16th- and 17th-century England. Although largely self-taught, he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy in London as well as at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, where his works were highly popular with the Victorian public. His paintings are distinguished by the attention to detail in the costumes, props, and reconstruction of period interiors. Scenes featuring gentlemen, horsemen, and figures from the Elizabethan period are among the most sought-after subjects in his body of work.
