TAQUOY Maurice (1878–1952) Race program for Auteuil on November 11, 1951. Watercolor with gouache on printed paper. Signed lower left. The mount is labeled "Prix Richard Hennessy." 31 x 23 cm (frame: 55.5 x 48 cm) Note: Maurice Taquoy (1878–1952) ranks among the leading French painters of the equestrian world in the 20th century. A student of Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he became a member and received several awards. Passionate about horse racing and the world of horses, he is particularly appreciated for his depictions of the racetracks at Auteuil, Longchamp, and Chantilly. His works remain today a benchmark in the iconography of French horse racing and equestrian art.
