GORI Fortunato (1886–1925) - Lot 118
GORI Fortunato (1886–1925) Young Girl with Flowers. White marble sculpture. Signed on the pedestal. Height: 45 cm. Note: Fortunato Gori (1886–1925) trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence under the sculptor Augusto Rivalta before continuing his career in Paris in Victorien Bastet’s studio. An exhibitor with the Société des Artistes Français between 1902 and 1923, he established himself as a leading figure in decorative sculpture during the Belle Époque and the nascent Art Deco period. His works, characterized by a refined combination of marble, alabaster, ivory, and bronze, are now housed notably at the Musée Louis Senlecq (L'Isle-Adam) and the Musée du Château Dufresne in Montreal. The idealized female figures remain the most sought-after creations of this Florentine sculptor, who worked between Italy and Paris.
