GORY Fortunato (1886–1925) - Lot 119
GORY Fortunato (1886–1925) Dancer with Two Putti. Bronze figure with a medallion patina on a fluted sea-green marble base. Signed in relief “A. Gory” on the pedestal. (slight wear to the patina) Height: 64 cm. Note: Based between Florence and Paris, Fortunato Gory (1886–1925) contributed to the rise of European decorative sculpture in the early 20th century. His allegorical compositions, combining female figures, putti, and dance-like movements, were highly successful with French and Italian art dealers. The virtuosity of the modeling and the elegance of the silhouettes reflect the Florentine academic tradition adapted to the refined tastes of the Belle Époque. Today, his large decorative bronze groups are among the artist’s most sought-after works.
