Height: 16 cm Note: Clément Massier (1844–1917) was one of the leading innovators in French ceramics of the late 19th century. Heir to a prominent dynasty of faience makers in Vallauris, he developed the famous iridescent metallic glazes in Golfe-Juan that secured his international reputation and earned him several awards at the World’s Fairs. His works are now held in numerous institutions, notably the National Ceramics Museum in Sèvres and the Magnelli Museum in Vallauris. The lustrous earthenware pieces signed “MCM Golfe-Juan” are among the most sought-after examples of French Art Nouveau ceramics.
