LALIQUE France - Roxane Model (after Marc LALIQUE) - Lot 153
LALIQUE France - Roxane Model (after Marc LALIQUE) Decanter and stopper in white crystal with a partially frosted finish. Marked on the back. Height: 32.5 cm Note: Created by Marc Lalique (1900–1977), son of René Lalique and the architect of the company’s revival after World War II, the Roxane model illustrates the evolution of the Lalique style toward more refined and architectural forms. Its name refers to Roxane, wife of Alexander the Great, a figure from antiquity associated with beauty and elegance. The contrast between satin-finished and clear crystal, characteristic of Marc Lalique’s designs, is one of the most recognizable hallmarks of this period. Today, Roxane remains one of the great classics of Lalique crystal from the second half of the 20th century.
