LIMOGES, Haviland Manufactory - Empress Josephine Demitasse Collection
A polychrome porcelain coffee service set comprising twelve cups and ten saucers with various designs.
Note: A global benchmark for Limoges porcelain, Raynaud has upheld the excellence of French tableware since 1919. The Vieux Chine design is inspired by the porcelain of the Compagnie des Indes, which, in the 17th and 18th centuries, fueled European enthusiasm for Chinese wares and had a lasting influence on French manufacturers. Founded in 1842 by David Haviland, the Haviland manufactory contributed to the international renown of Limoges porcelain, particularly among European courts and American clientele. The Empress Josephine model pays tribute to the wife of Napoleon I, a great patron of the decorative arts, whose refined taste contributed to the rise of the Empire style in tableware.
