Gaétan de PERCIN - Lot 33
Gaétan de PERCIN 800°° silver bracelet with modernist links. Crab hallmark and GP hallmark with a cross. (signs of wear) Length: 19 cm Weight: 92.4 g Note: Model listed as No. 4031 in the company’s catalog. Note: Born in Paris in 1904, Marie-Gabriel Gaétan de Percin founded his workshop in 1938 and became one of the leading jewelry manufacturers for the major houses on Place Vendôme, working notably for Hermès, Cartier, Boucheron, Chaumet, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Vacheron Constantin. Today, he is particularly known for having crafted the first examples of the legendary “Chaîne d’Ancre” bracelet, designed for Hermès by Robert Dumas in 1938. A designer in his own right, Gaétan de Percin simultaneously developed his own line of modernist silver jewelry, featuring deliberately sculptural and architectural forms, contributing to the postwar revival of French jewelry alongside designers such as Jean Després and Gilles Jonemann. Produced in limited editions and listed in numbered catalogs, his designs are today highly sought after by collectors of 20th-century French designer jewelry. Listed as No. 4031 in the house’s catalog, this bracelet is a remarkable example of Gaétan de Percin’s modernist aesthetic.
