SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8 AUCTION SALE: FINE 20th-CENTURY ART AND DESIGN
Among the highlights of this upcoming sale, an exceptional piece by Jean-Claude Novaro is sure to draw all eyes: a chessboard table created in 1992, made of hand-blown and hot-modeled glass, with each pawn and figure enhanced by gilded inlays. This spectacular creation is estimated at €5,000–€10,000.
In the same range, a luminous painting by Jean Volang, La Capeline rose, showcases his delicate and nuanced palette. The duo of works by Yoel Benharrouche, Phases médianes and Sensible est le parfum de ton, presents abstract and poetic compositions in mixed media, each estimated at €3,000–€5,000.
The graphic arts segment features an original lithograph by Joan Miró, Les Essenciès de la Terra (1968), estimated at €7,000–€9,000, while a bronze edition of Arman’s famous Violon Rothschild (numbered 29/99) is offered at €6,000–€9,000. Contemporary painting enthusiasts will be captivated by Jean-Pierre Alaux and his dreamlike landscapes: Licornes à la rose des vents and Voyage en Cappadoce (oil on canvas), with luminous and delicate palettes, estimated at €4,000–€6,000.
Finally, on the furniture front, note a tripod guéridon by Jansen Decoration, circa 1970, combining gilded bronze and white marble veined with gray. Its bamboo-motif base lends it timeless elegance; it is estimated at €2,000–€4,000.
