ROCHARD Irénée (1906-1984) - Lot 95
ROCHARD Irénée (1906-1984) Owl. Black patina bronze proof. Signed, dated 1933 and located in Paris on the base. Justified artist's proof 2/4. (scratches from use, small oxidation marks). Height: 25 cm Note: Irénée Félix René Rochard trained at the Beaux-Arts and Arts Décoratifs schools between 1924 and 1928. A close friend of artists such as François Pompon and Édouard Marcel Sandoz, he produced hundreds of representations of animals - horses, panthers, monkeys, gazelles and birds - with an elegance characteristic of Art Deco. His preferred material was bronze, which he sometimes combined with ceramics, wood, granite or marble, with great formal finesse. Recognized in France and abroad, several of his works have been acquired by the city of Paris and even New York, testifying to his renown.
