DELORMOZ Paul (1895-1980) - Lot 68
DELORMOZ Paul (1895-1980) View of Fontarabie in the Spanish Basque Country (mouth of the Bidassoa River). Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. (small stains, marks from framing nails) Dimensions with frame : 263 x 102 cm Paul Delormoz is a French painter trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, whose work is in the fine figurative tradition. He excelled at depicting landscapes - forests of the Île-de-France region, Brittany coastlines, mountainous sites - with particular attention to light and color. At the same time, he created decorative frescoes for public buildings (notably in Vincennes) and also explored historical and religious subjects, thus affirming a body of work that is both poetic and committed.
