AUCTION SALE – SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22 Starting at 2 p.m. : CLASSICAL ARTS
Paintings and furniture from the old masters to the 19th century, decorative arts and glassware
This sale will stand out for its remarkable variety: from a 19th-century Sino-Tibetan gilt-bronze group depicting Yamantaka in his wrathful, bovine-headed form (500/1,000 €), to an Émile Gallé fall-front secretary — the Forêt lorraine model, presented at the 1900 Universal Exhibition (10,000/15,000 €).
Among the noteworthy lots is a cabinet inspired by the work of Gian Battista Gatti, crafted in marquetry of ebonized wood, bone and hardstone inlays (10,000/15,000 €), as well as a painting by Alexander Clarot, Young Man on Horseback, dating from the early 19th century (5,000/6,000 €).
The sale will also highlight several works from a prestigious provenance: a selection of paintings and objets d’art from the Hôtel de la Reine, located on Place Stanislas in Nancy, including a portrait of a woman signed “F. Gérard,” estimated at 3,000/5,000 €.
A number of unusual pieces will further attract attention, such as an Egyptian-style chair made in England around 1920 (5,000/8,000 €), and an impressive pair of two-metre-high Nubian figures in carved and painted wood, supporting foliage-decorated vases and standing on rocaille bases (15,000/20,000 €).
